A guide to the wonders of grade 5
Students are researching and writing about an historical figure for Canada. This is due Friday, but they are to bring me a draft early next week. The written portion is 3 paragraphs long and I've told them to organize their writing into the 3 categories that are on the graphic organizer. Some students were struggling with the identity portion of the research. We used as an example in class Alexander Mackenzie, who crossed the country twice by canoe to find a route between the St. Lawrence and northern BC for the Sea Otter fur trade. We determined that he was hard-working, resilient, gritty, fearless, fueled by failure, an explorer, a leader and he was not afraid to ask for help.
